Rutgers School of Social Work is pleased to welcome its newest cohort of MSW students to campus.
The School's Office of Admissions received a record number of MSW applications for the 2025 admissions cycle, with over 2,200 applications submitted for the spring, summer, and fall terms. Ultimately, the School enrolled 110 new students in the spring, 189 for the summer, and 590 for this fall.
A few highlights and facts about our new MSW students:
- Students range in age from 20 to 66 and come to Rutgers from over 230 different undergraduate institutions.
- The majority of new MSW students are enrolled in the On-campus (385) and 100% Online (395) programs. An additional 55 students enrolled in the Blended Online MSW and 54 in the Intensive Weekend MSW program.
- Similar to the last two years, members of the newest MSW class identified their race and ethnicity as follows: 6% Asian, 18% Black, 18% Hispanic, 7% Puerto Rican, 3% multi-racial, and 47% white.
- The School also enrolled 13 new excellence scholars who demonstrated exceptional academic and personal accomplishments in their applications. The scholars received their undergraduate degrees from Brown University, Elon University, Penn State University, Princeton University, Seton Hall University, and Rutgers, among other institutions. The excellence scholars have diverse interests in social work including working with immigrant populations, transgender health and advocacy, pediatric care, and Latinx community support.
