The Institute for Families (IFF) at Rutgers School of Social Work advances the professional practices and knowledge base of individuals and organizations dedicated to improving the lives of children and families. As the School’s largest center, IFF delivers a $35 million portfolio of contracts delivering training, technical assistance, and applied research and evaluation services. IFF works to:
- Advance New Jersey’s child welfare and human service systems through workforce partnerships that lead to more equitable, improved childhood experiences;
- educate child and family-serving professionals through innovative learning experiences that build evidence-based practices in their everyday work with youth and their caregivers; and
- demonstrate practices that impact and improve childhood outcomes through applied research and evaluation methods.

- Program Updates
- IFF celebrated the December graduation of two Price Family Fellows. Rutgers Against Hunger and private donors honored all Fellows from the New Brunswick and Camden campuses with holiday gift boxes to celebrate the season.
- The ICARE (Inclusion, Courtesy, Acceptance, Respect and Education) for the LGBTQI+ Community project completed focus groups and interviews aimed at assessing needs for consumer services and staff training.
- Grow NJ Kids Training Services’ released a six-month training evaluation report covering the period of January 1, 2021 – June 30, 2021
- A Needs Assessment Synthesis Report and PowerPoint was provided to the Division of Children and Families. This report summarizes critical service needs and challenges experienced across the state of New Jersey. It also provides county examples of successes and general recommendations. - Lorin Tredinnick was elected as Secretary of the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports (ASWIS).
- Ciji Carr-McManus received the 2021 "Hope + Inspiration" Award from Mayor Tiffani Worthy of Willingboro, NJ.
