Rutgers School of Social Work Faculty Included in Top 2% Scientist Rankings Report for 2024
On September 16, Stanford University and the Elsevier Data Repository released “August 2024 data-update for ‘Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators’,” their list of the top 2% scientist rankings for 2024, which included six Rutgers School of Social Work faculty members. Drs. Edward Alessi (Professor and MSW Program Director), Victoria Banyard (Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs & Distinguished Professor), Stephen Crystal (Distinguished Research Professor), Chien-Chung Huang (Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Professor), Emily A. Greenfield (Director of the Hub for Aging Collaboration and Professor), and N. Andrew Peterson (Director of the Center for Prevention Science and Distinguished Professor) were among those included on the list.
"The recognition of our six faculty members on this prestigious list is a testament to their outstanding contributions to scientific research," said Dr. Huang. "This global ranking, based on rigorous bibliometric data such as citations and h-index, underscores the significant impact our faculty have in shaping their fields. Being included in this elite list highlights the caliber of research produced at our institution and the global influence of our scholars."
The report explains that the scientists were classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields according to the standard Science-Metrix classification. Field- and subfield-specific percentiles were also provided for all scientists with at least five papers. The selection was based on the top 100,000 scientists by c-score or a percentile rank of 2% or above in the sub-field.
