Focus groups for Hurricane Sandy: Mays Landing and Toms River
The Sandy recovery research team from Rutgers University and NYU is looking for young adults and teens, as well as parents, to join a single, 60-minute focus group exploring the long-term effects of Hurricane Sandy. The original study was funded by the New Jersey Department of Health and the current study is funded by the New Jersey Department of Children and Families. Findings from the study are shared with public officials, community advocates, organizations, and residents. Reports are intended to enable the State of New Jersey – and its residents – to better prepare for and respond to the needs of affected communities in the face of disastrous events, and to help other states prepare as well.
Participants who are selected will each receive a $40 gift card for their participation in an hour-long focus group. Volunteers should be young adults between the ages of 15 and 22, and a parent or caregiver who lived with this young adult when Hurricane Sandy struck, and who lived in one of the following counties in New Jersey at the time the hurricane struck: Atlantic, Berge, Cape May, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, or Union.
