Associate Professor of Professional Practice and Executive Director of Field Education Mark Lamar was recently chosen by the Network of Social Work Management (NSWM) to serve as a mentor in the network’s new Group Mentoring project in 2022.

Professor Lamar joins five other social work leaders nationally, from government, academic, and health and human service domains, who will collaborate with their mentees. Mentee-participants are social workers from varied professional backgrounds.

NSWM mentors aim to help promote their mentees’ professional development, enhance their leadership skills, and develop their knowledge of leadership, management skills and best practices. NSWM’s group mentoring project is predicated upon the successful development of mentor-mentee relationships which are based upon trust and respect among participants.

Lamar has served as a mentor for NSWM Fellows in the past several years. Lamar observes that “it is an honor to have been selected by NSWM to serve alongside talented colleagues, and I look forward to a successful partnership with emerging social work leaders.”

The project will be carried out virtually in biweekly group meetings over six months, and will be evaluated by NSWM at its conclusion.
