Interconnectedness is a major key to ending so many social problems we work on and is so central to our own wellbeing as social workers. More and more we are talking about the need for both self-care and community care. Conflict can get in the way of our relationships with family, coworkers, and loved ones, the fabric of our community care. What tools do you have in your toolbox to manage these sometimes-painful conflicts which are a normal part of all our lives?

In this two-part workshop Assistant Professor Caroline Harmon-Darrow will lead a conversation about conflict, five common approaches to conflict, and conflict management skills, such as inclusive listening, open-ended questions, brainstorming, and making agreements. The focus will be on a few basic, concrete, doable conflict resolution strategies and skills.
