Jennifer Miles

Dr. Miles is a postdoctoral associate at Rutgers University School of Social Work and an addiction health services researcher. In her research Dr. Miles explores the individual, organizational, and community-level factors that influence equitable access to care and service outcomes for individuals with substance use disorder. Her dissertation research examined associations between specific organizational characteristics and outcomes among individuals using publicly funded residential treatment services in Massachusetts. Most recently, Dr. Miles is conducting research on access to and use of medication for opioid use disorder in residential treatment settings among Medicaid beneficiaries in New Jersey. In addition to this work, she also has a growing portfolio of research examining racial/ethnic disparities in access to and use of substance use treatment services. Specifically, Dr. Miles is examining access to medication for opioid use disorder among Medicare beneficiaries with disabilities and an opioid use disorder diagnosis, including the role of county-level factors that contribute to the presence of disparities in the use of these medications.
