Multimedia Project Summary
Technology use disorder is an emerging diagnosis in the United States. As a result, parents and adolescents need assistance in managing the social, physical, and psychological long-term consequences of COVID-19 as excessive technology use have become a 21st-century behavioral addiction. This MMP provides a comprehensive definition of technology use disorder (TUD), strategies to assist parents in helping their teens live a balanced and meaningful life on and off the screens utilizing the Four M Model, and an assessment tool to help distinguish healthy versus pathological screen use. The Technology Use Disorder Assessment (TUDA) is the first standardized tool that provides the clinical criteria for parents, researchers, and clinicians to use so this population can get the treatment and attention it needs.
