Matt Cockerell

Matt joined the School of Social Work in 2023. He received his M.A. in Information Science from the University of Kentucky and has worked as an instructional designer for over a decade. Matt has experience designing and revising online, hybrid, and in-person courses. He has provided pedagogical support to multiple departments and programs across several universities.

Using evidence-based practices and adult learning theory as a guide, Matt strives to ensure that learning activities and assessments align with learning goals and objectives. His philosophy is that by coaching faculty on technology implementation skills and advising faculty on course design, instructional designers can help faculty excel in one of their most substantial areas – teaching.
