Self-Care Workshop
Presented by Bernardo Hiraldo, Assistant Professor of Teaching & Associate Director of Practicum Learning, and Hanna Otero, 100% Online MSW Student
Self-care is crucial for social workers to preserve their emotional, physical, and mental well-being in response to the demanding and often emotionally taxing nature of the profession. Without it, burnout can set in, leading to fatigue, diminished empathy, and reduced effectiveness in supporting clients. In this presentation, we will explore the causes and signs of burnout in social work, while offering practical strategies—such as mindfulness and self-care planning—to foster resilience and enhance compassion satisfaction.
Students will receive 2 practicum hours for their participation.
