In this MMP, I preset the Clinical Advocacy Model (CAM) supports clinical advocacy acuity and competency as an integral part of prioritizing clients’ dual needs for mental healthcare and social justice as they present themselves. Rooting out social injustices must be at the forefront of clinical education and training of all social workers. Social workers in private practice, in particular, have professional autonomy and flexibility to more freely support and advocate for clients. If social workers are going to effectively address social justice issues, their education and training should provide them with tools on how to effectively advocate for clients when appropriate. CAM encourages self-reflective practice and provides social workers with an intervention tool to use when social justice issues arise in mental healthcare treatment in order to clinically advocate for clients.
