Bio

Christine E. Kephart is an educator first and foremost. As a writing instructor in the Doctor of Social Work degree program in the School of Social Work at Rutgers University, she approaches writing through a social justice lens. Her teaching and research focus on demystifying the writing process and advocating for the narratives of diverse voices and identities. She comes to this work with a PhD in English Literature from Drew University where she pursued Willa Cather studies under the mentorship of Merrill Skaggs, with nearly a decade of experience as a writing center director in higher education, and as an editor and writer. Outside of teaching and writing, she is an activist for women and families, advocating for reproductive justice, access to resources, and education. She is also a musician.
