Understanding Bystanders for Self-Directed Violence Prevention:

A Prospective National Study Highlighting Marginalized Youth and Young Adults

Overview of the Project

This national, online, mixed methods longitudinal survey aims to document rates of adolescent and young adult exposure to different types of self-directed violence and to understand and test a model of providing help to peers. Oversampling of communities of young people who experience oppression across multiple social identities (race, sexual-identity, gender-identity) will add important voices to our understanding of gatekeepers/bystanders to this social crisis.
