Advanced Certificate Program in Gerontology

This advanced certificate program offers more advanced knowledge and skills for social workers and others who work with the elderly. It has been specifically designed for students who have completed the Basic Gerontology Certificate Program and who are looking for more advanced training.

Certificates of completion will be offered after each workshop and a final certificate will be awarded when all requirements have been met. Participants not seeking the certificate program are welcome to take individual workshops. 

To receive the Certificate in Advanced Gerontology, a participant attends:

Advanced Care Planning 
5 CE Hours

Legal Issues and Planning for Older Adults 
5 CE Hours

Ethnogeriatrics: Working with Older Adults of Various Cultures 
5 CE Hours

Ethical Dilemmas in Working with Older Adults 
5 CE Hours

Psychiatric Vulnerabilities in Older Adults 
5 CE Hours

End-of-Life Issues 
5 CE Hours

Elective Workshops

In the Basic and Advanced Gerontology Certificates, 2 electives are required to complete each certificate. Electives can be selected from the (non-required) workshops in all Gerontology programs.
