Bio

Milady Murillo is a dedicated professional with over 20 years of experience advocating for children, youth, and families. She joined the Institute for Families in 2016 and is currently the Associate Director. In her role, she is responsible for leading various training initiatives, including the New Jersey Child Welfare Training Partnership. This program focuses on ongoing professional development for the state’s child welfare workforce. Additionally, she supervises the staff managing IFF’s Youth Program, which supports college students who have experienced foster care or homelessness. Before joining Rutgers, Milady led a federally funded parent engagement program to increase family involvement in a child’s education, and the statewide Family Outreach Program focused on providing family support through NJ’s early learning centers. 

Besides her professional work, Milady has had several international experiences. She was a Winant Volunteer in England, co-led student exchange programs in Australia, France, and Japan, and the student exchange program between Rutgers School of Social Work and Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán-Mexico for three years. Milady holds a Master of Science in Social Work with a minor in International Welfare from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from Rutgers University and is a Rutgers Leadership Fellow.
