Wastewater is water that goes down sinks, showers or other home or business drains and water containing urine and feces that is flushed down toilets. Wastewater-based epidemiology methods can be used to monitor opioid use at the neighborhood-level using sewer networks and septic systems. This can help determine whether a neighborhood needs prevention and treatment resources for opioid misuse. The purpose of this X Chat is to elicit feedback from community stakeholders on using wastewater to monitor opioid misuse.
