Born and raised in China, Stella came to the United States as an international student. Stella’s research focuses on reproductive rights, adolescent development, child welfare, and decision-making processes. Trained in both quantitative and qualitative methods, Stella is committed to be a mixed-methods researcher. Her past work spans a range of topics, including the mental health of children with incarcerated parents, support systems for expectant and parenting youth in Baltimore City, and patient experiences with maternal-fetal surgery counseling. Stella is particularly interested in how structural and relational factors shape reproductive decisions among vulnerable populations. Outside of her academic work, she is actively involved in local animal rescue efforts and enjoys baking in her free time.
