Bio
As a PhD student at the Rutgers School of Social Work, Ibrahim's research revolves around systemic factors affecting vulnerable populations, particularly those impacted by the carceral system. He has a special focus on the Black, Brown, Indigenous, and People of Color (BBIPOC) youth. His work intends to reach the often invisible consequences of parental incarceration. Ibrahim seeks to understand how these experiences shape the life trajectories of young people. In addition, to exploring parental incarceration, Ibrahim's research inquires extend to the broader collateral consequences of mass incarceration, examining the complex web of social, economic, and health-related issues that extend beyond the prison walls and into families and communities. Ibrahim's research interest also delves into the critical issue of substance use disorder within underserved communities, focusing on the Puerto Rican community within Puerto Rico and throughout the diaspora, investigating the intersection of addiction, public health, and social justice.
