Meet the New Fall 2015 MSW Class
November 12, 2015

This fall semester, Rutgers School of Social Work was excited to welcome 740 new students to the MSW programs.  These students were selected from a pool of over 1,600 applicants and hail from all over the state as well as across the region.  Representing the tremendous diversity that is important to the school, 20% of this impressive new class includes out-of-state students as well as 36 international students from countries including China, Turkey, and Italy.

New students began their MSW degree in late August, taking classes on Rutgers three campuses in New Brunswick, Newark, and Camden as well as several satellite locations used by the Intensive Weekend program.  The 100% online degree attracted students from all over the U.S. and enrolled its first-ever advanced standing cohort which included 37 students who held bachelor’s degree’s from an accredited CSWE program.

In addition to receiving support from financial aid and graduate assistantships, the School awarded close to $400,000 worth of scholarships to the fall class. We look forward to seeing what they accomplish throughout their time in the MSW program.

Another new face to Rutgers this fall was that of Laura DiMarcantonio, the School of Social Work’s new Director of Admissions. DiMarcantonio previously served as Director of Admissions at the Fashion Institute of Technology, part of the State University of New York.  I am very excited to be part of recruiting students who will continue the incredible work that Rutgers School of Social Work is doing to impact not just the state, but the country and beyond. With the caliber of faculty here, global study opportunities, certificate specializations and more, there is no limit to what our students can achieve and change.”
