Jeanne M. Koller

Jeanne Koller (Ph.D., 2008) was appointed Instructor and Program Coordinator for the MSW Aging & Health Certificate Program in January 2015. In this role Dr. Koller supports the operations of the regional field education offices through management of the field placement process for Aging & Health Certificate students. In addition to her work in the field placement process Dr. Koller serves as Chair for the Rutgers Community Council on Aging; Faculty Mentor for the Fellowship in Aging students; and Coordinator for the MSW Aging & Health Speaker Series. She also presents at multiple school based orientations and trainings. Finally, she teaches and serves as Course Coordinator for various courses.
Koller has served Rutgers School of Social Work in various roles since 2008. She has taught BASW and MSW classes as a Part Time Lecturer from 2008 through 2014. Additionally she provided off site Faculty Field Instruction for students in the 2012-2013 school year and assisted placing students as a Field Placement Specialist in 2013 and 2014.
Dr. Koller is a proud alumna of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst where she earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration (BBA) in 1984; Hunter College, City University of New York, where she earned a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) in 1989; and Rutgers University The Graduate School–New Brunswick where she earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Social Work in 2008.
She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in NJ and has been licensed since 1991. Previously she had been a Licensed Social Worker (CSW) in NY (1989). She is also a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) and has served as a Substance Abuse Professional for various workplaces.
Koller has provided clinical social work services for over 25 years including work at an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and maintaining her own private psychotherapy practice seeing individuals, couples, and families. In addition to providing psychotherapy services she conducted various workplace trainings, consultations, and crisis interventions. Prior to her solo clinical practice Dr. Koller worked in various social work settings.
Her community service includes serving as a Member of the VNA-CHC Board of Trustees and working on their Clinical Quality Subcommittee; leading the Central NJ Chapter for Radical Age; participating in Garden State Equality; reviewing abstracts for the Gerontological Society of America; and participating in the American Society on Aging’s LGBT Aging Issues Network. Dr. Koller is also an active speaker in the community on the topics of ageism and LGBT+ aging.
