Rutgers School of Social Work's Center for Research on Ending Violence (REV) has begun offering its Violence Against Women Professional Certificate Program online allowing professionals access to critical training amidst the pandemic.

The Violence Against Women Professional Certificate program will enhance the skills of those eager to expand their knowledge of issues surrounding interpersonal violence during a time when domestic violence is spiking.

Through the exploration of core content areas such as understanding violence, screening and assessment, diversity, ethical issues, and legal resources, participants will leave the program feeling empowered to support survivors and offer trauma informed services regardless of their role or previous experience. The program will also offer specialty topics like mental health, substance use, and economic empowerment.

"The Online Certificate program has been designed to support the needs of working professionals,” says Gabrielle Gault, Training Coordinator at the Center. “The courses may be taken as series or individually to suit varied professional goals and timelines.  All courses are self-paced allowing learners to balance life and learning."

Courses have also been developed to include adult learning principals and incorporate game-like interactions, self-reflection, videos, and activities to ensure immediate professional impact.

“The Online Program is relevant for individuals looking to increase their professional toolkit or agencies seeking professional development to support staff,” says Gault.

Founded in 2007, REV is a field leader in providing research informed professional development and customized training to meet the needs of individuals and statewide agencies.

Online registration is now available for 6 of the 10 program courses with more rolling out soon. To explore the courses offered, or how to earn your certificate, email training@ssw.rutgers.edu
