Douglas Behan is the Director of the Office of Continuing Education and an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice. He has been at the school of social work since 2007.

Behan has over 25 years of experience in a variety of social work settings. He has worked extensively in the mental health field as a clinician, supervisor, trainer, and director of outpatient psychology and addiction services. In his career, he has enjoyed developing many programs including the school’s continuing education program, professional conferences, international training programs, a domestic violence treatment program, a children's intensive outpatient program, and an intensive outpatient detoxification program. He has also been on staff at a physical rehabilitation & brain injury hospital where he coordinated mental health and crisis services and provided ongoing training to the medical staff.

Behan has a deep connection to Rutgers where he received his undergraduate degree in psychology as well as his masters in social work. In past years, he has taught at the school as an adjunct faculty member.
