NASW-NJ's Legislative Education & Advocacy Day (LEAD)
Each year, NASW-NJ hosts its annual Legislative Education & Advocacy Day (LEAD) day, which brings together hundreds of social work students and professionals from across the state in our state capital of Trenton. LEAD is designed to further social workers’ knowledge of the legislative process, grassroots advocacy, and major current statewide policy initiatives. Attendees hear from an array of passionate speakers from elected officials, the government sector, community organizers, and advocates.
Past speakers have included Congresswoman Bonny Watson Coleman, and Assemblywoman Joann Downey. NASW-NJ is expecting an exciting group of speakers and panelists this year, as they have reached out to congressional and legislative leaders, as well as nationally-recognized speakers and leaders in grassroots advocacy.
Please note field hours will be provided for attendance at this event with the permission your supervisor. Rutgers School of Social Work students enrolled in SW Practice 2/Generalist Practice 2 can use this event as a focus for their reflection paper. This event is free, and the first 100 students attending the event will be reimbursed $25 during the event for travel related expenses (a SSW representative will be onsite during event to distribute reimbursement). Lunch will be provided.
We ask that you only register if you are committed to attending. Otherwise, you are taking a seat from another participant.
