Displaced Lives: The Threat of Violence for Refugee, Displaced and Conflict Affected Women
You are welcome to an "Incubation" event examining Gender Based Violence (GBV) and refugee/displacement/conflict issues in origin, and transition countries and interdisciplinary responses to this violence. This will be done through numerous expert panelists, stimulating conversation, and collaborative break out sessions between researchers and practitioners. This event is meant to broaden understanding of GBV within refugee and displaced populations related to inequality, social welfare, health, well-being, justice, programmatic response, and institutions. It is is meant for a non-expert audience of students, researchers, faculty, Community Based Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations, and staff. Five social cultural continuing education credits will be offered for free.
It is organized and sponsored by the Center on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) of the Rutgers School of Social Work, and co-sponsored by the Rutgers School of Public Health, Office of Global Public Health Affairs, the Institute for Women's Leadership, the Center for Women's Global Leadership, and the International Rescue Committee, Sanar: A Wellness Institute, and Smile for Charity . It is funded through a grant through Rutgers Global.
