Patricia Logan-Greene Named Rutgers School of Social Work Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
Rutgers School of Social Work is pleased to announce the appointment of Patricia Logan-Greene, MSSW, PhD, as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Dr. Logan-Greene will join the School on August 17, 2026, bringing a distinguished record of academic leadership, research excellence, and a deep commitment to student success.
In her new role, Dr. Logan-Greene will lead the School's academic affairs initiatives, working collaboratively across campuses to strengthen academic programs, support faculty and students, promote excellence in teaching and learning, and foster communication and collaboration throughout the School.
"Dr. Logan-Greene brings an outstanding combination of visionary leadership, innovative scholarship, and a deep commitment to academic excellence," said Dean George S. Leibowitz, PhD. "Her experience leading academic programs, supporting students and faculty, and advancing interdisciplinary research makes her exceptionally well suited for this role. I am confident her leadership will strengthen our School and further our mission of preparing the next generation of social work leaders."
Dr. Logan-Greene joins Rutgers from the University at Buffalo School of Social Work, where she served as Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. A nationally recognized scholar, her research examines the impacts of trauma, childhood adversity, violence, and system responses to child maltreatment and delinquency. Her work explores how childhood maltreatment influences aggression, delinquency, and physical and mental health outcomes across the lifespan.
She recently completed a National Institutes of Health-funded research project investigating the effects of child neglect and poverty on adolescent outcomes. In addition to her research, she coordinates the Child Advocacy Studies micro-credential, an undergraduate academic program focused on understanding and preventing child maltreatment.
More recently, Dr. Logan-Greene has expanded her scholarship to address the prevention of gun violence, examining how social workers can apply their expertise to intervene with individuals at greatest risk of violence. She serves as a co-leader of the national Grand Challenge in Social Work to Prevent Gun Violence and is a principal investigator on a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention grant that prepares behavioral health professionals across New York State to prevent violent extremism.
Dr. Logan-Greene earned her doctorate from the University of Washington School of Social Work, where she also completed certification through the Center for Statistics in the Social Sciences. She received her Master of Science in Social Work with a concentration in clinical social work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Dean Leibowitz also expressed his appreciation for Dr. Antoinette Farmer, who has served as Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for the past two years while continuing her responsibilities as Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
"Dr. Farmer has provided extraordinary leadership during a period of significant transition for both our School and the University," said Dean Leibowitz. "Her steadfast leadership helped guide us through multiple leadership changes, navigate the evolving federal landscape affecting higher education and the social work profession, and successfully complete the Council on Social Work Education reaccreditation of both our BASW and MSW programs. We are deeply grateful for her service and look forward to her continued leadership as Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion."
The dean also thanked the many faculty, staff, students, and university partners who participated in the national search process, with special recognition for the search committee composed of representatives from across the School and Rutgers University.
"As we welcome Dr. Logan-Greene to Rutgers School of Social Work, we are excited about the expertise, energy, and vision she brings to this important role," Leibowitz said. "I look forward to the many contributions she will make as we continue advancing excellence in social work education, research, and practice."
