- The Office of Continuing Education conducted a conference on Post-Disaster Financial Exploitation on June 8th at the Stockton University Campus Center in Galloway, NJ. The conference focused on ways to prevent, identify, and respond to exploitation of vulnerable adults following disasters. The event featured opening remarks by the NJ Acting Attorney General, John Hoffman and the Deputy Commissioner of the NJ Department of Human Services, Lowell Arye. The keynote address was given by Paul Greenwood – a prosecutor from San Diego who is nationally known for his work on elder abuse. The approximately 200 participants also chose from seven expert-led breakout workshops on the topic. The project is funded by Social Services Block Grant funding.
- The Office of Continuing Education hosted 21 visitors from China on June 15th & 16th as part of the Executive Management of Philanthropy Program conducted by the China Philanthropy Research Institute at Beijing Normal University. The group of foundation directors, business executives and university officials visited the offices of the NJ Department of Children and Families and met with Commissioner Allison Blake and also met with nonprofit organization in New York City to learn about their service delivery models. The experience was rich in learning and cultural exchanges for all involved.
