Colleen Beach was involved in a project related to one of her service projects. It was a community resource forum called “South Brunswick’s Own” on Oct. 18 where she was one of the panel members for the opening remarks. Congressman Russ Holt was the Honorary Chair for the day; Senator Linda Greenstein and Assemblywoman Donna Simon served as Legislative Co Chairs; Mayor Frank Gambatese and former mayor Caroline MCallum South Brunswick were Co-Chairs. There focus was on South Brunswick as one of the state’s first “livable communities” and local/state resources and caregiver supports were available.

Andy Germak is principal investigator on a $32,061 award from Beijing Normal University’s China Philanthropy Research Center. The grant will support a short-term experiential training program at Rutgers this fall for NGO and foundation leaders from mainland China. Huamin Research Center will work with the Center for Leadership and Management on this project.
The Center for Leadership and Management has entered into an agreement with Lavasa Corp. Ltd. in Mumbai to launch a nonprofit leadership training program in India in 2015.
The Center for Leadership and Management, in collaboration with the Office of Continuing Education, Prudential, Johnson & Johnson, Cigna, FEI Behavioral Health, and Lifecare, will host a one-day conference on Nov. 19 entitled, “A Brave New Workplace: Ending Stigma and Promoting Behavioral Health as a Key to Wellness.” Former congressional member, Patrick Kennedy, will be the keynote speaker.
Germak will chair a symposium at the 2015 SSWR conference entitled, “Social Entrepreneurship:Advancing the Research Agenda,” which will include four research papers related to this topic.
Sarah McMahon joined legislators in East Rutherford for a press conference regarding domestic violence and the National Football League. Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-Bergen) and Senator Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth), along with a bi-partisan group of women legislators from the Senate and Assembly, held the press conference at the Meadowlands Sports Complex to call for stronger action in response to the recent cases of domestic violence in the NFL and the failure of the league to appropriately respond. http://www.politickernj.com/82931/women-legislators-call-stronger-response-domestic-violence-nfl

Bill Waldman received the Excellence in Leadership and Governance Award from the Triple C Housing Corporation which provides supported housing services to persons with disabilities. Also, Bill will be receiving the 2014 SHA NJ Civic Leadership Award at the 16 Annual NJ Supportive Housing Conference 2014 on December 5.
