POSTPONED: Technical Assistance Workshop: Engaging Middle and High School Stakeholders
The New Jersey Conference on Campus Sexual Violence held in March 2019 was organized to provide a broad overview of the New Jersey Task Force Report on Campus Sexual Assault Report. The conference provided an opportunity for participants to learn more about the recommendations provided in the New Jersey Task Force on Campus Sexual Assault report, released in 2017, and to apply those to their respective institutions.
Based on feedback gathered at the conference, the Center on Violence Against Women and Children has organized a series of three technical assistance workshops held twice in the State (Northern and Southern). The workshops will each be a half-day, morning session and will conclude with an informal “brown bag” lunch to encourage informal networking and resource sharing among workshop participants.
This workshop will introduce middle and high school administrators, teachers, and students on how to address sexual and dating violence prior to college. This workshop will provide a comprehensive introduction as to the ways that middle and high schools can address sexual and dating violence. Topics will include an overview of Federal/State policies, training, education and resources. We invite public and private schools to send a team of students/administrators/teachers to attend this workshop. The workshop would be structured in three parts: 1) overview of what a collaborative or coordinated approach looks like; 2) breakout discussion identifying the key stakeholders within the middle and high school community to involve; 3) group discussion as a team for how to bring this information back to their respective school community.
