POSTPONED: Technical Assistance Workshop: Campus Climate Surveys
The New Jersey Conference on Campus Sexual Violence held in March 2019 was organized to provide a broad overview of the New Jersey Task Force Report on Campus Sexual Assault Report. The conference provided an opportunity for participants to learn more about the recommendations provided in the New Jersey Task Force on Campus Sexual Assault report, released in 2017, and to apply those to their respective institutions.
Based on feedback gathered at the conference, the Center on Violence Against Women and Children has organized a series of three technical assistance workshops held twice in the State (Northern and Southern). The workshops will each be a half-day, morning session and will conclude with an informal “brown bag” lunch to encourage informal networking and resource sharing among workshop participants.
This workshop will provide an in-depth overview of how colleges and universities conduct campus climate surveys related to sexual violence and build the capacity necessary to undertake such an assessment at their institution, with topics including; securing leadership buy-in; creating an advisory board; obtaining Institutional Review Board approval; selecting and modifying an appropriate instrument; developing an outreach and recruitment strategy; considering analysis options; developing mechanisms for dissemination; using results to create an action plan; and including student voices. The workshop will take participants through the various stages of this process and will allow time for participants to identify how this information applies to their respective institution. Our identified audience for this workshop includes higher education administrators, direct service providers, and any other staff or faculty involved in addressing campus climate.
