Symposium on Opioid Addiction
Join Rutgers School of Social Work for a symposium on opioid addiction featuring keynote speaker, Dr. João Goulão, Director General of Portugal's Intervention Service in Addictive Behaviors and Dependencies (SICAD), and distinguished panelists including nationally recognized psychologist, Stanton Peele, J.D., Ph.D., Beth Connelly, former commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Human Services and current staff at Pew Charitable Trusts, and SSW professor and director for the Center for Gambling Studies Lia Nower, J.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Goulão is regarded as one of the most prominent international figures dealing with drug decriminalization. From 2009 to 2015, he served as chair of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction and was previously a delegate at the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
