Center on Violence Against Women and Children: Special Speaker Event
Join our Center on Violence Against Women and Children as they host Maria Eugenia Delgadillo for a discussion on combating violence against women and girls in Nicaragua and beyond.
For the past 23 years Maria Eugenia Delgadillo has worked on issues around the human rights of women and children, especially sexual violence against girls.
In her legal work Maria Eugenia has provided psychological expertise and has coordinated a commission to provide support for women and children who were under police custody. Internationally, Maria Eugenia has participated in a wide range of committees and forums, like the Swedish Women's Network Against Violence, Uruguay's Sexual and Reproductive Rights group as well as women's groups in Mexico and Brazil working to build a stronger international Feminist Movement.
Maria Eugenia also promotes the right to therapeutic abortion in the Nicaraguan penal code which has some of the most restrictive abortion laws in the Americas. She is a teacher of Usui Reiki and Karuna Reiki, which she has practiced for 18 years as an alternative therapy for emotional recovery in the survivors of violence.
