CE Event: Interventions for Parents with Personality Disorders
Interventions for Parents with Personality Disorders instructed by Janis Falvey
This webinar will address dependent, borderline, and narcissistic personality disorders in parents and other caregivers. It is intended for family preservationists and other family-oriented interventionists working with parents who manifest these personality features. Topics covered include: the definitions of personality traits and the common features of personality disorders; recognition of dependent, borderline and narcissistic personality features; other co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse problems; the impact that parental personality disorders may have on child development and family functioning; the obstacles posed to effective family and child centered interventions; and effective short term strategies to engage and defuse problematic character traits and behavior. The workshop will combine didactic presentation and group discussion. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring relevant case material for discussion and consultation.
