Alumni Conversations: A Social Worker's Top Priority: Attunement & Self-Care in the Midst of COVID-19 & Civil Unrest

Host: Dr. Tawanda Hubbard, MSW'05, DSW'17

In today's social climate, social workers are on the frontlines supporting individuals, families, and communities along with tuning into their own needs during these uncertain and challenging times- especially when they are working parents and supporting family members. Self-care is so important in social work practice, but it can be hard to implement. Social workers often think of their own personal needs last and are vulnerable to burnout and compassion fatigue.

Join Rutgers School of Social Work's Alumni Council in this engaging conversation about our own vulnerability to stress and need for daily self-care. Discuss self-care practices one could incorporate into their daily routine and share with others how they have been able to keep themselves healthy, especially in the last year.

This event is the first in a series of conversations hosted by the SSW's Alumni Council for our entire alumni community. Stay tuned as we announce more events in the series during the coming weeks.
