MSW students should contact the School of Social Work Office of Student Affairs or their advisors with any questions about registration or course sequencing. The Office of Student Affairs at the School of Social Work sends new students timely, detailed information about registering for courses. This information includes the link to complete registration, dates and times that registration will open, and the name and contact information for academic advisors. Specific course requirements are also sent and may also be found in the ACADEMICS section of the School’s website.
To view course offerings, visit http://sis.rutgers.edu/soc/.
To read course descriptions, click on the "synopsis" link to the right of the course title on the online schedule of classes website OR visit https://socialwork.rutgers.edu/academics/master-social-work-msw/msw-syllabi.
Social work course sections usually fill very quickly so students are encouraged to register as soon as possible once registration is open.
Note that in New Brunswick, there are several PhD courses listed on the website. They are coded as School 16. MSW students are not able to take Ph.D. courses without special permission. MSW courses are all coded as School 19.
Look for informational notices from the Office of Student Affairs and your advisor before registration periods begin.
