Office of Child Welfare Initiatives
The Office of Child Welfare Initiatives (OCWI) educates and supports the professionals caring for New Jersey’s most vulnerable children and families, public child welfare staff.
With program initiatives funded through the NJ Department of Children and Families, the two major programs offered by OCWI include the New Jersey Child Welfare Training Partnership and the Adoption Certificate Training Program.
Strong partnership with stakeholders from New Jersey’s public and private networks ensures that more than 100 different training topics and course offerings are built on a working knowledge of current field practice.
Classes are evaluated using training surveys and pre and post tests to measure participant satisfaction and knowledge gained. Transfer of learning activities are provided to advance learning into practice with families. Courses and trainers are evaluated regularly to ensure best practices in every training experience.
This approach brings a collaborative force that aligns providers, coordinates services and diffuses knowledge across systems.
