What's a licensing exam, and should I take it?

Visit the Association of Social Work Board's website for background on social work licensing exams, including registration, fees, and other requirements.

Can my MSW internship hours be counted toward my LCSW?

As stated by the NASW, "No. You cannot start counting the required 1,920 hours of face-to-face client contact until you have earned a master's degree in social work and have an LSW or proof that you are engaged in social work practice in an exempt setting for which licensure is not required." How do I earn the CEUs I need to maintain my license?

Visit the Office of Continuing Education webpage. Rutgers SSW Office of Continuing Education is the largest University-based program of its kind in the nation. This office offers over 400 programs each year, as well as 12 certificate programs all lead by expert instructors.

Do I need to renew my license if I haven't used it in a while?

Yes. According to the NASW, "The New Jersey Board of Social Work Examiners (BSWE) issues licenses and certifications for a two-year period." (NASW Licensing FAQs)

As alumni or former students, visit to obtain an official copy of your transcript.

Does Rutgers have any services specific to veterans and active members of the military?

Yes, Rutgers has support services available to veterans on all three campuses. Visit the Office of Veteran and Military Programs and Service for more information. 

Is it true I have Rutgers University Library privileges as an alumnus/a?

Yes, you must present your personalized Rutgers Alumni Card to borrow any materials. Follow this link for more information about alumni cards.

I'm an out-of-state alumnus/a, are there any Rutgers events that happen outside of the New Jersey area?

Yes, the Rutgers University Alumni Association has a number of regional alumni clubs throughout the United States and Internationally. View a listing of regional alumni clubs here

What benefits can I receive as a Rutgers alumnus/a?

Visit the Rutgers University Alumni Association website for a full listing of alumni benefits. Some include discounted apparel, international trips, and a perks card, which offers discounts at a number of retailers.

My diploma was lost/ damaged, can I get a new copy?

If you would like to replace or receive a duplicate copy of your diploma, please fill out this request form. This request form is valid for degrees conferred on all three campuses: Camden, Newark, and New Brunswick.
