Bachelor of Arts
The school offers a B.A. with a major in social work, which is a professional degree program that prepares graduates for beginning social work practice. It is offered through Rutgers' Camden College of Arts and Sciences in Camden and through the School of Arts and Science in New Brunswick/Piscataway.

- Full-time students complete the program within two years of matriculation.
- Advanced-standing students complete the program in one year following successful completion of any additional courses required to fulfill the professional foundation.
- The Juris Doctor/Master of Social Work (J.D/M.S.W.) is an accelerated dual-degree program offered by the school in conjunction with Rutgers' schools of law in Camden and Newark.
- The Master of Social Work/Master of Divinity (MS./M.Div.) is offered in conjunction with Princeton Theological Seminary

Master of Social Work (MSW)
The school's largest program prepares skilled direct-service providers to function in both public and private sectors of social welfare; and also prepares students for advanced social work practice, including administrative leadership roles in the state's social welfare departments and agencies, and at all levels of government, as well as in the voluntary sector.
Advanced Standing
The school offers an advanced-standing M.S.W. program for students who have earned a baccalaureate degree in social work from an undergraduate social work program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Part-Time MSW
A structured MSW part-time option is available on Rutgers' three regional campuses. Students are required to take a minimum of 6 credits each term and to complete the program within four years of matriculation. Advanced-standing MSW students are required to complete the structured part-time MSW option within two years of matriculation.Dual Degrees

Doctoral Program
The Ph.D. program, offered in conjunction with Rutgers' Graduate School New Brunswick, prepares students for careers in higher education, research, and advanced positions in social policy and administration.Advanced Standing

The school also offers Areas of Emphasis, or organized programs of study, that focus on a specific problem area and/or population at risk. An area of emphasis is optional. Areas of emphasis are not pre-determined by the School of Social Work. Individual students are able to develop their own individual, unique area of emphasis.
Field Education
Rutgers' School of Social Work is affiliated with more than 800 social service agencies throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Students integrate classroom instruction with hands-on experience.

Non-Degree Programs
The Institute for Families at The Rutgers School of Social Work offers non-degree, graduate level classes known as Professional Credit Courses (PCC). These courses provide an excellent opportunity for individuals who may be considering the MSW program to explore introductory classes without committing to a full or part-time degree program.
