Transfer Students
Transfer students follow the same application process as fall applicants. Applicants are strongly encouraged to include a member of the social work faculty of their previous MSW institution as one their three reference letters.
Once a student is admitted into the program, the director of admissions will evaluate their previous course work for transfer of credit. Courses taken at other graduate schools of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education can be accepted for equivalent course work within the program. It is required that course work have been taken within six years with a minimum grade of B to transfer credit. A maximum of 23 such credits can be granted to a candidate for the MSW degree at Rutgers. Students may need to submit additional documentation such as course descriptions or syllabi in order to determine if particular courses are applicable towards the School's curriculum.
