Graduate Student Association

Welcome! Formed in September 2005, the School of Social Work Graduate Student Association (SSWGSA) is chartered by the Rutgers University Graduate Student Association and endorsed by the School of Social Work. Our goal is to support and encourage social, academic and professional development of social work best practice by MSW and PhD students., and serve as a conduit for dialogue between, students, faculty and administration. Each year the Council chooses non-profit and charitable community service organizations to which the SSWGSA provides volunteer time and financial support. We also offer a peer mentor program that links 1st year MSW students to 2nd year MSW students for guidance and support.

Membership includes all matriculated MSW and doctoral students; all MSW students are automatically enrolled in the association and students on all three campuses are welcome to attend all events and meetings. Elections for the SSWGSA Council are held every spring and officers serve a one year (12 month term) that begins in May.

MSW students are encouraged to get involved! Contact us to help with volunteer opportunities on an ad-hoc-basis.
