Continuing Education Program

Violence against women is widespread, affecting over 1.6 million women each year. It affects individuals in all lines of work, of all colors and ethnicities, and at all socioeconomic levels. Health-related costs of rape, physical assault, stalking, and homicide by intimate partners is estimated to exceed $5.8 billion each year, impacting families, communities, and businesses.

Because violence against women affects so many, it is critical that professionals in social work, human services, healthcare, criminal law enforcement and the corporate world expand their understanding of this complex issue and develop the skills to competently and effectively address the needs of victims and families.

The Violence Against Women (VAW) Continuing Education Certificate Program, initially funded by The Verizon Foundation, is a unique and engaging program that provides a wide range of professionals the knowledge and the practical skills they need to understand and effectively address the myriad of issues faced by women who are victims of violence.
