Life Skills and Aftercare Programs
Life Skills programs provide adolescents between the ages of 14 and 18 with training that focuses on areas such as employment, money management, community resources, communication, decision making, housing, and education. Adolescents in a DYFS-paid placement on their 14th birthday are eligible for these services.
Aftercare programs provide young adults between the ages of 18 and 21 with training necessary for their successful transition to independence.
DYFS contracts with private, non-profit agencies to provide life skills and aftercare programs throughout New Jersey.
