Medicaid Extension for Young Adults (MEYA) provides continued Medicaid coverage for youth who were living in a DYFS-paid placement on their 18th birthday and meet Medicaid eligibility requirements, excluding the income requirement. The no-cost coverage is available regardless of income until the young adult's 21st birthday.

Workers and young people can find out more information about this program by calling The Medicaid Extension ‘Warm Line' at 1-888-235-4766.

A youth who is not eligible for MEYA may still be Medicaid-eligible under other programs. For more information, contact the youth's local welfare office. Contact information for all county welfare offices is available at http://www.nj.gov/humanservices/dfd/programs/foodstamps/cwa/.
