Locations

The Intensive Weekend program is an off-campus program, holding classes at 3 different locations throughout the state of New Jersey.

Applicants must apply for the desired program by location and program.  Applicants who wish to be considered for admission to one of our campus based programs, as well, should apply to the Intensive Weekend program of choice and indicate their desire to be considered for on campus admissions in their personal statement, and/or send an email to that effect.

Please adhere to the following deadlines:

  • Online application and personal statement, transcripts, and letters of recommendation are due March 1.
  • Supplementary materials, by invitation only, are due April 30.
  • Interview is required for admission to the Intensive Weekend program

Central New Jersey: Bordentown 

For students in the Bordentown program, each course consists of one 3 day (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) and one 2 day (Saturday/Sunday) weekend, for a total of 5 full-day classes, including 1 Friday every two months. Students take one course at a time throughout the year. Class time is supported by online activities in the 4 week interim periods.

Assignments are all submitted online and students have access to the instructor and other students via eCollege, the course management system used in the program.

  • Pre-session: Class goes online  4 weeks prior to the 1st weekend of the course and students prepare for class. They participate in online threaded discussions and/or other online activities and complete one assignment in preparation for class.
  • Students attend class Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9 to 4:30, with an hour break for lunch.  
  • Inter-session: students have 4 weeks to prepare for the second weekend of classes. They complete a mid-term assignment and participate in threaded discussions and/or other online activities.
  • Second weekend of classes meets Saturday and Sunday, from 9 to 4:30.
  • Wrap up and new pre-session: Students complete a final assignment for the course and prepare for the next course, which continues to follow the monthly 3-day/2-day class and preparation schedule.

Southern New Jersey: Mays Landing

For students in the Mays Landing program, each course consists of one 3 day (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) and one 2 day (Friday/Saturday) weekend, for a total of 5 full-day classes. Northern New Jersey: New Cohort in Jersey City, NJ

We are pleased to announce that the program’s new cohort will hold classes at The Culinary Conference Center of Hudson County Community College, in spacious, state of the art smart classrooms. The Center is conveniently located in Jersey City, a short walk from the Journal Square PATH/Transportation Center and easily accessible by  major highways. 

Students in the current Parsippany program and the program's new cohort at the Culinary Conference Center, attend class Saturday and Sunday one weekend each month, supported by more intensive online activity during the 4-week interim periods, in order to extend instructional time. Each course consists of 4 weekend in-person class days and  three required live online class sessions, as well as additional online activity, such as threaded discussions. Students are informed of the schedule for live online class sessions, generally held in the evenings and/or on weekends, prior to the beginning of each semester.

Students must have access to the internet via data chord (not WIFI, which is unstable) to fully participate in this program. If internet access is not available at home, students may wish to check with their local public library.

  • Students attend class Saturday and Sunday, from 9 to 4:30, with an hour break for lunch.
  • Inter-session: students have 4 weeks to prepare for the second weekend of classes, which meets Saturday and Sunday, from 9 to 4:30. They participate in at least two live online class sessions during the intersession and complete a mid-term assignment.
  • Wrap up and new pre-session: Students complete a final assignment for the class and prepare for the next course, which continues to follow the monthly 2-day/2-day class and preparation schedule.
  • 3 existing cohorts currently attend classes at Rutgers School of Social Work/Institute for Families Training classroom in Parsippany; the location of the 2013 incoming cohort has yet to be determined.
